- Lubbock County gives notice of tax increase; rate to stay the same while assessed values go up – Lubbock residents only hade 2 local government officials they could count on, both are county commissioners Corely and Seay, and while they both voted no, they could have stopped the tax increase in the same manner they did last year to become respected statewide, but instead decided that the political game of putting the other 3 on record for voting for a tax increase was more important than actually doing what they promised voters and stopping the increase. That gave us a tax increase anyway and as they could have stopped such by again denying a quorum, it makes them as responsible for such as if they had voted “yes.” They sold us out. Now Lubbock County residents do not have a single local government official they can count on to fight for basic, Republican principles all the way to a result.
