TX19: Robertson has been an open book for decades

In an Abilene Reporter News story, TX19 runoff candidate Glen “Robertson said that what separates Arrington and himself is that lawmakers’ decisions have affected his business and his income. “Jodey has been in a different world,” he said. “He’s been in appointed positions for politicians for the majority of his adult life and is more of a lifetime bureaucrat versus this small-town, full-time businessman.”

And in this Robertson has summed up the race for the 19th Congressional District of Texas well.

Do voters across West Texas want for a Congressman a man who has spent his entire life, until about a year ago, on the political and government payroll and brags about being a Washington operator or, do voters want someone who has been in the trenches right alongside them fighting to survive in the face of DC-regulation, taxes, debt and more?

…do voters want someone who has been in the trenches right alongside them fighting to survive in the face of DC-regulation, taxes, debt and more?

In a Lubbock Avalanche-Journal story Robertson was quoted as saying: “I’m not going to be out actually pandering or trying to cater to one person’s block of voters. But I’m going to keep giving the message that ‘This is who I am, this is what I believe in and if your beliefs line up with mine, then I’ll love to have your support’ .”

The same story says “Arrington stands by what he calls his social and fiscal conservative ideals, and said he encourages those voters to look at his record and stance on the issues.”

Robertson’s business record is in West Texas, in the District, he’s been an open book for decades. Arrington has been a backroom political operator in Washington, DC and then had a taxpayer funded position created for him at Texas Tech.

So what are Arrington’s “social and fiscal conservative ideals” he talks about?

His record doesn’t speak to anything other than campaign phrases and about a year ago, state Senate District 28 voters saw right through the rhetoric. Will TX19 voters do so as well?

  1. Glenn is the one I will be voting for.

  2. Why disparage Texas Tech University? Shame on you.

  3. Arrington “had a tax payer position created by him.” Really? How? Strangest statement I’ve ever read.

    • Pratt on Texas says

Did the vice chancellor position Arrington was given at a lush salary exist before his arrival? Was there some national search to fill the position from which Arrington was selected? Was there already a staff occupying the former Merrill Lynch offices Arrington spent $90,000 taking from very nice to super nice?

      No.

  4. Jodey Arrington is above and beyond the best candidate.
