Texans have a chance to end bad knife laws, central to Baltimore troubles

Robert,

I wanted to point out that the mainstream media is finally waking up to the fact that weapon rights can be a civil rights issue.  This article in The Christian Science Monitor examines the bad knife law that prompted Baltimore police to arrest Freddie Gray and examines efforts—such as the current bipartisan efforts in the Texas Legislature—to decriminalize knives:

Rep. Harold Dutton’s knife decriminalization bill (HB 3884), which is mentioned in the final paragraph of this article, is up for a House committee hearing tomorrow morning.  Together, this bill and Rep. Frullo’s knife preemption bill (HB 905)—both of which I helped draft—would wipe Texas’s bad knife laws off the books.

Sincerely,

W. Scott Lewis
