Lubbock City Council District 3 price per vote

As everyone is analyzing Deanne Clark’s surprising first place finish despite the least amount of funding, I calculated the price per vote, assuming that all 3 candidates in District 3 spent all of their total donations (as of 8 days out).  Deanne had funding of $7808 and a vote count of 661, making her cost per vote $11.80.  Maurice Stanley had $10,329, after donating part of his to Honor Flight), 482 votes, making his cost per vote $21.43.  Jeff Griffith raised an unprecedented amount of $54,740 for 571 votes, making his cost per vote the huge sum of $95.80.

It appears that an underfunded grass roots door to door campaign by dedicated volunteers with a detailed fact based fiscally conservative message can still prevail in Council District 3.  We found many people struggling under the burden of hidden utility taxes, huge public debt, City overspending on non-essentials and a City Council that is not responsive to their pleas for relief.

It remains to be seen whether voters will succumb to massive spending for their vote or independently reject the tax and spenders funding Mr. Griffith and continue supporting Deanne Clark.
