The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas Senate sets rules for the so-called “trial” in the Paxton impeachment debacle that House members knee-jerked us into. You heard it here first (last week with Senator Perry,) it won’t start in August but in September.
The only big surprise is how the Senate split the baby on Senator Paxton, the wife of Ken Paxton. She will not be able to vote but will be on the floor as a member of the “court” and count toward the number of senators present. This is very important as establishment insider Republicans, many long out to ruin Ken Paxton, along with liberal media allies, have been trying to get her seat as well as of another senator not to count so as to lower the number of votes need to get two-thirds to convict.

Deadly and damaging weather hit Matador, 4 dead, and across Texas Wednesday night – a full update.
Why LULAC, a once reputable organization, is no longer with spit and neither is this KXAN reporting. Texas didn’t end anyone’s water break. The bill in question, not explained, is the one that stops cities from regulating things the state regulates. Read the invective, hateful words of the LULAC chief and then realize that only 2 or 3 municipalities, Austin and San Antonio I think, even had ordinances that the law overrides. And to prove the point that rules are being enforce, including “water breaks” see this story from the Midland paper: OSHA sends inspectors to ensure workers are safe in heat wave.
Much immigration and border related news.
And, other news of Texas.
