Texas’ disappointing sort-of DEI on campus ban | Abbott is fighting for plan with less tax relief for you – Pratt on Texas 6/16/2023

The news of Texas covered today includes:

Our Lone Star story of the day: Governor Abbott is harming Texans with his fit of vetoes and he’s doing it seemingly to ensure we get the smaller of the two property tax cuts that are on the legislative table! Abbott is wiping out key taxpayer protections in order get the Senate to go along with the House plan that does not deliver nearly as much property tax relief (about half) to the average homeowner. What’s the political upside of this?

Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.

Much ballyhoo on the passing and signing of the Texas D.E.I. ban for college campuses but such is undeserved as the bill is without any enforcement. And as if to demonstrate such, Texas A&M hires a radical Leftist D.E.I. proponent to run its “journalism” program.

Texas has a record number of people working; the May employment numbers are released. Oil and gas drilling rig count is unchanged in Texas from last week.

And, other news of Texas.
