Pratt,
I have mixed feelings about the wave of pot legalization in this country. Can’t remember who said this: thank goodness for all the idiots, it makes it so much easier for the rest of us to succeed! Let them do it as it’s their body, their mind, their life, their money to do with as they wish. It’s freedom, or license anyway. And the money paid won’t go to criminals; will it?
On the other hand, looking ahead, I can see why the left wishes this. Pot will be highly taxed, another regressive tax enriching government. I expect they will make employer drug testing illegal as a violation of civil rights, the 1st and 4th amendments, etc. So, we will wind up working for and with people who lack IQ, motivation, memory and focus. I can see a government health care system charging us to clean up the obesity, accidents, diabetes, lack of motivation, drug overdoses, brain damage, lung damage; not to mention the social problems. I can see the US sliding further down in education, prosperity, and competitiveness.
Pot smoking is just a recruiting tool for the left. More zombies to accept the pillars of the left: delusion, denial, deceit, and dependence. It will be presented as it always is after it becomes viable as a political entity. Why should people who are perfect otherwise, better than the rest of us, be persecuted for this one behavior! But Conservatives know the reality of this. Its just one more thing to bring us all down, spread the misery, and grow the government.

Pratt comments:
Here’s the problem. They’ll tax it a lot which then, just as with cigarettes, will create a black market because of the artificially high margins. That in turn means no benefit in crime reduction but all the other expanded problems.
Apparently that’s already happening. The black market already exists. It maybe slightly less lucrative than before but how will police know where they buy? I imagine they’ll counterfeit govt pot. It just means more people using the stuff.
Can’t wait to see junk food ads catering to this crowd…..
