Pratt,
I heard that Senator Seliger drew an opponent. Heard it is Mike Canon of Midland.
I can’t remember if I shared with you the information that when Seliger appeared at the Morton townhall, I told him that farmers were worried about losing their water, or words to that effect. He emphasized that we had local control.
I then asked him what the final plan was with our water and he said, I have been trying to remember, but believe he said that it was the local board, not the state board, that set a five year plan.
I asked again, what was the final plan? He had no answer that I can remember other than to say the plan will be revisited every five years.
Only after I went to the local water board meeting in Lubbock did I find out that Seliger filed SB 302 to take control away from the local board and give it to the state water board.
Seliger is in my opinion a faux NRA member. I say that for two reasons.
- He supports Common Core, said as much in Morton and I get word that CC misstates the Second Amendment.
- He is against concealed carry guns in schools.
If Canon believes in God-given individual rights, I want to support him to the fullest extent of the law.
James
