Democrat discomfiture with the flag

If you want to see dissimulation, pretentious fakery, on full parade just tune into the Democrat’s convention where many speakers attempt to hide their decidedly anti-American beliefs behind the pretence of suggesting policies to help one disaffected group after another.

The real story, hidden from many by the dissimulation of Democrat office holders and leaders, is that the Party itself is disaffected from the core values of our Declaration of Independence, Constitution, and societal experience. That’s why they are so uncomfortable with national symbols including the nation’s flag.

They will put flags and other national symbols everywhere at the convention after being called out on the derth of such on Day 1. But there’s a long history of this from Leftist protesters burning the flag to the Democrats’ current standard bearer Barack Obama refusing to wear a U.S. flag lapel pin when first running for office. This discomfiture with expressions of patriotism became the norm within the Democratic Party after the McGovernites took over.

This is a political party which rejects the basic concept of individual liberty and responsibility upon which a representative, constitutional republic depends – that’s why they are embarrassed by symbols of traditional Americanism.

The celebrated Leftist Cass Sunstein claims that both sides care about liberty with conservatives defining such as “the right to be left alone” whereas American “liberals stress the rights and freedoms of minority groups, such as African-Americans, who (in their view) are entitled to governmental help.” That line is an awfully weak attempt to define liberty. In fact, it doesn’t even address liberty but instead posits a justification for government action.

If liberal Democrats can’t even define liberty in a way that makes sense, then why be surprised they don’t like the symbols of such.
