Trump refuses to acknowledge his own words supporting government healthcare

‘Ted Cruz is a total liar:’ Trump gets testy over Cruz’s claims that a vote for Trump ‘is a vote for Obamacare’” read the headline at the Daily Mail. And way deep down at the bottom of the typically long Daily Mail piece was this exchange with former Tech student and Lubbock TV reporter gone big:

In the interview 60 Minutes’ Scott Pelley asks Trump about ‘universal health care.’

‘I am going to take care of everybody,’ Trump responds.

After Pelley asks, ‘Who pays for it?’ Trump tells him, ‘The government’s gonna pay for it.’

And while the attack ads [from the Our Principles PAC] use these comments, Trump hasn’t acknowledged that he’s ever said them.

‘I don’t even know where he gets this,’ Trump told Stephanopoulos [over on ABC this week], taking on Cruz. ‘But he is a liar.’

Did you catch the line about Trump having never acknowledged what he said even though it was said on camera in a 60 Minutes interview?

…a man who can hurl invective at everyone else but falls apart when criticized and who can’t even admit to, and explain, his own statements on a major issue.

That’s not some off the cuff statement at some cocktail party, it is an answer during a sit-down, be-very-prepared interview and it is congruous with other statements he has made supporting government healthcare for all.

The position is bad enough, terrible and full-out socialist really but, what should bother you is the clear glimpse at the man – a man who can hurl invective at everyone else but falls apart when criticized and who can’t even admit to, and explain, his own statements on a major issue.
