Happy 250th birthday to these United States of America!
It has been interesting to watch the thousands of European, antipodeans, and others from around the world come to Texas, and other parts of the USA, for the soccer World Cup only to be stunned most by how wonderful is Texas and the rest of the country and how much they have been lied to by their national news organs about us.
Americans who do not consume foreign media, so most Americans, do not realize that especially since the end of the Soviet Union, our own allies, countries Americans have died to save and preserve, have been engaged in constant negative propaganda about us and life in the USA.
The misconceptions these visitors have spoken and written about on social media are not due mostly to innocent ignorance but due to decades of state sponsored lying about life in the USA where the citizen is sovereign and not the state and its officials.
Our supposed friends and allies, especially in Europe, have been trashing America and Americans long before Trump came on the presidential scene. To them, the word “cowboy” is a pejorative and they used such constantly to criticize George W. Bush and most all U.S. leaders excepting, of course, leftist socialist types.
Worse though is how average American citizens and communities have been portrayed. Many of these soccer guests truly believed that the whole country was full of mean, Nazi-light type folks with gun battles in the streets everywhere, and I mean everywhere, and they thought the whole country was New York City-expensive and -unfriendly.
Why have our supposed allies been prosecuting a Soviet Union-style propaganda war upon us?
On our 250th birthday things are not a utopia here and never will be, but overall our country is still out performing the world in citizen living standards, productivity, and especially personal and family freedom.
There are several reasons and one is very much related to the former communist empire: Europe and Australia have headed down the path of far-left, all-powerful government with state control over most every part of people’s lives. The countries we have saved, along with the American Left, are working to adopt yet another flavor of the tyrannies we have shed blood to defeat.
On the practical political front, Europe’s statist E.U. policies have created more than a decade of almost no real economic growth and improved living standards. And adding insult to the injury of moribund economies, the statist elites imported millions of third-world poor immigrants into their countries. When politicians and political movements fail, the last thing they want their people to plainly see, just like the old Soviet Block, is that others with differing policies and politics are living better.
These things, others, and simply plain old evil envy, have led to a world in which those whom hardworking American pay to protect pay us back with resentment and often hatred.

Scholars may argue about who first said “eternal vigilance is the price of liberty,” but most attributions are to founders of this great Republic and that’s what matters. To make it to our 300th birthday will require heightened eternal vigilance as indeed, the wolves are knocking at our door and sadly many are already in our political house.
