On Sunday afternoon in Garland, police responded to a vehicle crash near Texas 66 and Dairy Road at about 3:30. A driver had struck two vehicles with his own before coming to a stop nearby at a gas station. Trying to flee the scene, police say the man tried to take several cars by force from the parking lot but was unsuccessful. He then crossed Dairy Road to the parking lot of a convenience store where he came upon a family in a white sedan.

The suspect then attempted to carjack the family but the driver fought back. At some point the driver produced his handgun and shot the carjacker saving himself, two other women, and several children who were in the car.

The “Hispanic man” who was trying to carjack people was pronounced dead at hospital a short time later.

All the better for Dallas County, and all the better for Texas!
