Our Lone Star story of the day: Senate Bill 2 from the 88th Texas Legislature (2023) required the election of 3 public members to appraisal district boards in counties with 75,000 or more in population. Micah O’Hair, director, Place 1, Lubbock Central Appraisal District, is one of these inaugural elected appraisal district board members. What he has seen, heard, and experienced is exactly what led the legislature to create these elected positions – and he says it justifies having a fully elected board.
