Lubbock commissioner race (Pct. 4) gives lessons voters need to learn | Texas jobs – Pratt on Texas 1/12/2026

The news of Texas covered today includes:

Our Lone Star story of the day: A GOP Lubbock County commissioner race features a candidate and former office holder who demonstrates some of the worst traits of an officeholder: 1) Willing to blatantly lie about his record, and 2) Wanting to be liked more than wanting to do the right thing promised to voters.

Way too many people get elected who end up wanting to be liked, a regular human trait, more than they want to be respected for doing what’s right or what they promised voters. About the only way to sift through candidates at election time is to look at their record. If they regularly stand up to do the right thing, especially in the face of big opposition, you can generally assume that behavior will continue. It’s always a crap shoot with those who have no officeholder or political activist record.

Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.

Texas employment remains strong with very large number of jobs being created.
