Our Lone Star story of the day: The Texas Senate continues to work while House members sit around collecting generous per diem checks. Today the Senate was working hard on much need bail reform, reform that has been thwarted by the House for several sessions. Lt. Gov. Patrick spoke to the press today and made it clear that this is an item that is of top importance to him and the Senate and for which he is willing to play “hardball.”
Also, related to the Legislature: High costs of wind and solar electric generation variability are being passed on to us, ratepayers, instead of those who cause the costs.

Harris County’s jail remains out of compliance since 2022 and the Commission on Jail Standards wants the attorney general’s office to force compliance. Note that Harris County’s Democrat leadership has money for all types of welfare and other projects but none for the basics of government.
