“The woman said she had fallen asleep, and her boyfriend opened the vehicle door to carry her inside when at least four armed boys surrounded them. Initially, she said her boyfriend thought the robbery was a prank because the boys were so young,” reported KTRK.

Upon realizing he was surrounded by the armed juveniles, the man pulled out his own weapon and shot at the juveniles, according to Major Suarez of the Harris County Sheriff Office.

Three different media outlets reported the ages of the armed boys differently as being between the ages of 12 to 14, 12 to 13, and 12 to 15.

“Being that age, you’re supposed to be with your family,” Willow Plaza resident Monique Robledo said, according to KTRK.

Three of the youths were injured and taken to hospitals. It was reported that two were in “fair” condition and a third, reported to be a 12-year-old, was in “critical” condition.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said that the 25-year-old victim was cooperating with police.

Neighbor Bruce Bailey said: “Of all things, being Christmas, and this is a child, first thing that comes to my mind is, number one, where is the parent?,” according to reporting from KHOU.

The couple, the victims, are okay because the man was prepared and acted quickly.

All the better for Harris County and all the better for Texas.
