State Rep. Carl Tepper honors VFW on its 125th anniversary

Rep. Tepper files resolution and presents proclamation for Veterans of Foreign Wars

Via press release:  Austin, Texas – Representative Tepper has filed House Concurrent Resolution 7 during the first week of pre-filing legislation leading up to the 89th Legislative Session, which seeks to designate September 29th, of each year, as Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States Day for a ten-year period.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) has served veterans and advocated for their rights and benefits since its founding in 1899. With over 1.4 million members, the VFW has been a national leader in supporting veterans’ healthcare, transitioning to civilian life, and passing key legislation.

The organization also helped establish the Veterans Administration and national veterans cemetery system.

At the VFW Post 2466 monthly meeting, Representative Tepper presented the Post with a proclamation in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the VFW from Governor Abbott. The resolution “encourage[s] all Texans to learn more about the VFW and its illustrious history; to support the organization by any means possible; and to follow its example by supporting our veterans in word and deed alike.”

Upon filing House Concurrent Resolution 7, Representative Tepper stated, “I’m grateful for the opportunity to recognize the VFW, especially our own local VFW Post 2466 in Lubbock. These veterans served a critical role in defending our country and then go on to become leaders in their respective communities. They are valued heroes in and out of uniform.”

Carl H. Tepper represents House District 84, which is entirely within Lubbock County, Texas. He is a father, Air Force veteran, Texas Tech graduate, and commercial real estate professional. Representative Tepper serves on the House Committees on Appropriations and Urban Affairs.
