Abbott’s skydiving | Texas manufacturing sector contracts | Illegal immigration news – Pratt on Texas 11/27/2023

The news of Texas covered today includes:

Our Lone Star story of the day: Governor Abbott and a 106-year-old WWII veteran skydived this morning. The questions from reporters afterward was whether the governor would call a 5th special legislative session to try and get school choice passed if the failure in the current special session continues. He wouldn’t say. We better hope he doesn’t let the issue plummet to earth and die a political death.

My guess is he will not call another and will say the battle is moving to his endorsements and campaigning to get pro school choice folks elected for the next regular session. But that session will not start until January of 2025 and doing such would require record incumbent beating in the GOP Primary.

Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.

Not good: Texas manufacturing slips back into contraction. “The new orders index has been negative for 18 months…”

Tomorrow, the Texas Supreme Court will hear a case challenging Texas’ abortion ban laws.

Much border and illegal immigration news including:

More rot of local government: City of Midland looks to avoid state takeover of firemen’s retirement by pushing huge bond debt issue on citizens.
