Our Lone Star story of the day: Governor Abbott released the agenda for his third called Special Session of the Legislature which begins at 1 p.m. on Monday, 9 October 2023.

The governor listed four items with the second item on border security having three items listed under it. The fourth item in the call titled “public safety” is dangerously vague and comes from the hype* surrounding the Colony Ridge development in Liberty County.

The big question is whether an Education Savings Account plan can be passed that provides honest, universal public school choice for Texas parents and students.

“The State Office of Administrative Hearings found the entire school board voted to spend $38 million to install LED lights on school campuses, even when former superintendent Alda Benavides cautioned the board against such a big investment when there was no evidence the lights would save the district money.
“The contract was part of a criminal conspiracy that involved millions of dollars in bribes and kickbacks.”
