Our Lone Star story of the day: Vast majority of GOP state representatives join Democrats to vote to recreate a version of the failed Chapter 313 school district property tax break program. If the problem is school property taxes being so high that such deter economic investment, then work on lowering those taxes. Instead they vote for a scheme that transfers more local burden onto existing businesses and individual taxpayers. And worse, in a vote that makes a mockery of any claim to support limited government and personal freedom, enough putative Republican reps joined Democrats to fund a pilot program testing the state monitoring your driving to charge you by the mile. Lubbock’s Dustin Burrows voted for this monstrosity as did Abilene’s Lambert – it’s a program environmentalist-radicals worldwide have been pushing to get take people’s freedom to drive away!
