Our Lone Star story of the day: Texas Republicans trounced Democrats in statewide races. Fewer gains however were made in other areas including the legislature. There were great bright spots such as picking up one of three Congressional seats in the Rio Grande Valley and holding a Southside of San Antonio House seat for the first time. However, for the future the losses in Harris County are very bad and help move Texas in the direction we see in other states where a few Democrat-run cities and counties control the elections where a huge percentage of the state’s votes come from.
