Two new Texas polls out | Harris Co. GOP commissioners using law to stop tax increase; why not same in Lubbock? – Pratt on Texas 9/14/2022

The news of Texas covered today includes:

Our Lone Star story of the day: It began with two newly elected Lubbock County commissioners who actually bothered to read the law but fell apart in that supposedly conservative county as one commissioner chickened out the next time around. Now Harris County’s two Republican commissioners are again following that great Lubbock example and saving the people from a huge Democrat tax increase by denying a quorum at the meeting to set the property tax rate for next year. The hypocritical Democrats are fighting back hard to not lose their big grab of the people’s money.

Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.

R.I.P. Judge Kenneth Starr.

Two new statewide polls are out showing slim but firm GOP leads.

Texas Monthly publishes another excruciating long story in which the writer implies that when only accusations are made at a conservative Republican, A.G. Ken Paxton, it means he is guilty and how dare voters keep supporting him. Funny how that viewpoint doesn’t exist when it’s Dems accused, and sometimes convicted or caught red handed, breaking the law.

And, other news of Texas.
