According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office a shooting happened between midnight and 1 a.m. on Tuesday, 5 July 2022 in north Harris County. Police report that a 58-year-old woman was celebrating Independence Day with neighbors when her 22-year-old son arrived. His behavior was described as “strange” by neighbors.
The son entered his mother’s apartment and, using a semi-automatic rifle and a pistol, began shooting up the apartment. Bullets entered the neighboring apartment in which a 16-year-old girl was sitting at a dining table but fortunately was unhurt.
The mother of the shooter escaped the apartment “with her face bloodied,” according to reports. She went to hide behind a tree. The armed son left the apartment, hunted his mother down, and began shooting her in her lower body.
At this point a neighbor retrieved his gun, ran to the immediate scene, and shot and killed the 22-year-old. The mother is out of surgery and expected to survive according to KHOU-TV.
