The news of Texas covered today includes:
Our Lone Star story of the day: The Texas House District 84 race in Lubbock county sees astronomical spending and yet leaves me befuddled as to just what type of “Republican” is the big spender, trial lawyer David Glasheen. Glasheen’s wife Mary is featured in ads telling all her husband a “real Republican and true conservative.” How would Mary know? According to records she’s not voted in the Republican Primary but did vote in the 2016 Democratic Primary – who for, Bernie or Hillary? Then David, the “real Republican and true conservative” appears not to have bothered voting in Republican Primaries from 2012 all the way through 2020! That’s skipping out on some major elections including the Beto vs. Ted Cruz race!
Brad Johnson of The Texan has a good write-up on the HD84 race.
Our Lone Star story of the day is sponsored by Allied Compliance Services providing the best service in DOT, business and personal drug and alcohol testing since 1995.
San Antonio’s money losing convention headquarters hotel, the Grand Hyatt, to be sold to stop the bleeding of taxpayer money. If the state’s top convention city can’t make a taxpayer subsidized convention center hotel pay, how in the world is it to work in places like Amarillo, Lubbock, Wichita Falls, Midland, or Abilene?
Other campaign news including gubernatorial finance numbers.
