2022 Texas Republican Primary Election Recommendations from Pratt on Texas

Listen to Pratt on Texas weekdays at 5pm on 98.7 FM or 1420 AM in Lubbock or across the Big Country and Abilene on 96.1 FM.

You can hear Pratt on Texas interviews with some of these candidates here.

If the office is not listed I am not issuing a recommendation but do not take that to mean that I believe something negative of all candidates listed.

GOVERNOR: Don HuffinesI believe our Party benefits from a focused runoff for a variety of reasons including, hopefully, bringing our incumbent governor to face the direct questioning of an opponent over his record. So far our governor has avoided doing so by not participating in any forum or debate before the voters.

  1. Jo Karan Mann says

    not me

  2. Fred C Jones says

Are you happy with Charles Perry as a State Senator?

    • Pratt on Texas says

Extremely so as I cover regularly on the show. He’s among the top true conservatives in the state. He is not listed because he has no primary opponent.

  3. William Arey says

What about State Representative, District 71? Lambert or Weatherby?

    • Pratt on Texas says

Lambert is worthless as a Republican but I’ve never heard from Weatherby or anything about Weatherby. If you can’t campaign then you probably can’t do much of a job serving as state rep.

      • MARK A REASER says

All we hear on KYYW is Lambert adds. I’ve seen a few signs for Weatherby around town. Mostly Lambert signs. Lambert’s office did help me with a Licensing issue with the SOT. Likely he will receive my votes. We miss you and your lovely wife here at Bells Chicken!

      • Pratt on Texas says

We’ve been to Belle’s recently but not recently enough! We’ll have to have an event sometime this spring.

  4. Bettie Wimberly says

Thank you for providing this important information. I just found where I can once again listen to you in Lubbock!

  5. Thanks for your picks, they’re interesting and helpful. God bless.

  6. Do you, Robert, have any comments or recommendations on local Lubbock races? Thanks,

    • Pratt on Texas says

The list includes most of the local Lubbock races. I’m not making such in the Pct. 4 Lubbock Co. races. Other races are not party primary races and are on the May 7th ballot – those will come later.

  7. Have you had any one on one question time with Sid Miller? Condescending, circle speaking, career politician. Proud of himself yet not able to offer true solutions to the problems he faces. Thinks hemp is a wonderful thing (I suggest anyone who thinks so study the effects it has had on Oregon), yet admits it is a gateway for gangs and marijuana grows. I could go on, but hopefully people fully research candidates for themselves before giving blanket consent to being governed by anyone.

    • Pratt on Texas says

I have interviewed Sid Miller many times on Pratt on Texas, in-person several times. The legislature opened us up to Hemp, not Sid Miller.

  8. Robert, have your thoughts changed at all on Patrick & Paxton after it has been revealed that along with Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Rep. Dade Phelan (and potentially Ken Paxton according to Allen West) have collectively received millions in campaign contributions from Border Health PAC and Friends of UT Southwestern Medical Center PAC since 2015. These PACs are directly affiliated with pediatric gender modification centers.

    • Pratt on Texas says

Good grief. It’s not as if those places are Planned Parenthood with a sole mission. Almost every industry PAC will have parts of their business that is disliked by many and even rightfully objected to. Almost all the legislators get money from AT&T and that company supports all kinds of things to which I object, same with many others. I abhor the sex-change evil at UT Southwestern and have participated in exposing such. I also abhor all the vaccine and mask mandates as an affront to liberty so I guess any place that required such in anyway suddenly becomes a disqualification for a candidate if people at such make donation to said candidate? And frankly the 2015 point matters because until the last few months there was no public reporting that such activities were going on so how would these folk have known?

      • Doug Arnold says

I agree with your points with one exception . . . permanent, physical abuse of children is a good place to draw a line regardless of any other position taken by a candidate, group, or PAC. Much like the changes to abortion law that have occurred in Texas recently, HB 1399 could have had the same effect. This bill seemed to be doomed the moment it was in the hands of Burrows, Phalen, Patrick, and Abbott. Thank you for your thoughts.

  9. Robin Dulaney says

    Robert,
What do you think about Eva Guzman? On the surface, I like what I hear. Your thoughts?

    • Pratt on Texas says

She’s fine. Recruited by the don’t rock the boat, wealthy establishment faction of the party. She certainly will not be substantive mover of the conservative agenda the way Ken Paxton has been.

  10. Cathie Carr says

What’s your opinion on State Representative District 88 between Ted Hutto and Ken King?

  11. Thanks for endorsing Ted Hutto. Ken King has not represented us from day one.

  12. Abilene District Attorney. Sir, what is your recommendation? I’m thinking Phil Crowley. He states that he is a Constitutional Conservative and is a Right To Life Candidate.

    • Pratt on Texas says

It’s for Abilene County Judge that Phil Crowley is running and it is on my recommendations page: Phil Crowley.
