Don’t count on giant waves of voter turnout from the very young

Pratt on Texas - copyright Pratt on Texas all rights reservedI know you’ve all been nervously awaiting the advice of the ne’er-do-wells Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markle related to the election. Your wait is over as ABC gave a broadcast platform to the spoiled beyond belief quitters of the UK’s House of Windsor to tell us all, wait for it, to exercise our right to vote in the upcoming General Election.

Meghan Markle, scornfully laughable for someone who has all because she married a particular man and is good looking, has teamed up with old Feminist Gloria Steinem to push the empty-headed into the voting booth. And, of course, the duchess of nothing dislikes Donald Trump. Particularly funny coming from someone who from the first moment, has been a divider of Queen Elizabeth’s family, Markle called Trump “divisive” – takes one to know one I guess.

And for even more twilight zone pseudo intellect, we turn to a story at Business Insider about “Young Democratic activists explain the vision of the future driving first-time voters to the polls.” It’s not a brief story and yet, as I find often, it actually mentions almost nothing about the subject it purports to cover: “the vision of the future” of young first-time voters.

“They instead want to hear from candidates who are going to weigh out a vision of the future that they’re going to be building together and alongside young people,” stated a major source for the story, Sarah Audelo, who is at 36 a long way from the group for which she claims to speak.

What is this vision? The story doesn’t tell us and rarely does anyone.

Frankly, short of an impending threat such as a draft and forcibly going to war, most young people no matter how unique they believe their generation to be, are simply engaged in the eternal things such as looking for a life mate, meaning in their work, and deciding where they fit into the world as opposed to entertaining grand political dreams.

Until that changes, don’t count on giant waves of voter turnout among very young people.
