We will know this is real “war footing” emergency when…

The disappointing thing is how fast every entity caved.  Churches, cave. Businesses, cave. When did we become such a compliant people? Wasn’t our generation the generation that marched and protested? Why have we become tied up so fast and easily,” wrote a Listener Club member.

Another listener is shocked that so many community leaders in his town have cowered in silence while officials shut down their economy and issued orders that contravene enumerated rights that seem unjustified.

We know that the house arrest (shelter-in-place) order by Dallas County Judge Jenkins, taken without consulting county commissioners, was justified such by an infection-spread model that many are using that itself admits it is not reliable. And we are lectured by officials, and they whine, that we are not taking their orders and pronouncements serious enough.

So then why are you not, in all these emergency meetings, slashing government spending now to soften the coming huge revenue shortfall?

Most every retail business person I have spoken with has said revenue has fallen from 50- to 100-percent. Other businesses say 30- to 100-percent.

Local mayors, county judges, school board members, we will know this is a real emergency where everyone should do his part, when all government employees, top to bottom, pull their part of the load too with immediate, temporary 10- to 20-percent wage and benefit reductions.

You tell us the math is clear, things are going to get much worse. So then why are you not, in all these emergency meetings, slashing government spending now to soften the coming huge revenue shortfall?

Come on, now, we’re all in it together aren’t we?! It is serious isn’t it?!

We may have equilibrium, Robert. We have some people who are losing their minds over this stuff and lambasting the others, perhaps like you and me, who are quietly watching this and making a comment occasionally, but mainly going about our daily lives . A Lib nurse dropped the FU bomb on me last night because I was not wound up nearly tight enough for her pleasure. As I am retired, I don’t have to go a lot of places, but I do go where I need to go and do what business I need to do and come home. I have food and TP as I plan farther down the road than this afternoon. I have voluntarily given up my face mask usage to allow others to have one if that makes them feel safe. I may have one or two laying around the house, but from disuse, they are dirty and I would not want them on MY face. I enjoy the show. 10 or fewer or go to gaol!
