The Houston Chronicle’s Nicole Hensley reports:
“An off-duty Harris County deputy opened fire on a suspected car prowler who targeted his vehicle Tuesday night outside the Willowbrook Plaza, according to police.
“The deputy found that his personal vehicle had been broken into around 8:30 p.m. and then shot at a suspect in a getaway car near the Tomball Parkway and Gessner Drive, Houston police said.
“The suspect is believed have taken his “duty belt” from the vehicle, officials said.
“As Houston Police Department officers were investigating the shooting, Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said he was going to the crime scene to “check on our teammate.””
