Matthew M. Day: A Last Hurrah in Texas?: W. P. Soash and South Plains Oil, 1936-1955

Author Matthey Day writes: “Just in time for your Fourth of July reading pleasure, I am pleased to offer my second book of 2019. This time, in A Last Hurrah in Texas?: W. P. Soash and South Plains Oil, 1936-1955, I examine the oil deals involving longtime Texas land promoter William Pulver Soash, who saw his career resurrected by the Slaughter oil discovery in 1936 near Lubbock.

Soash also made efforts to relocate German Lutherans and German Mennonites to areas southwest of Lubbock near the New Mexico/Texas border. The primary focus of this book will center on the South Plains and Permian Basin regions near Lubbock and Big Spring.
