Via Austin American-Statesman: Texas lawmakers on Friday put a stop to red light cameras, outlawing what some critics consider a money-grab for municipalities.
“It does not have to do with safety,” said state Sen. Bob Hall, R-Edgewood, who shepherded the bill by state Rep. Jonathan Stickland, R-Bedford.
Provided Gov. Greg Abbott signs it, the cameras could be off by next month.
It’s about time! Most of us knew what it was when the ticket was made a civil penalty instead of being in traffic law.
