Rep. Joe Moody, D-El Paso, said his bill was “another step” toward getting rid of” antiquated laws regarding weapons.”
“We did it with switchblades. We did it with knives and now with knuckles,” Moody said Wednesday. “Hopefully, now, with this on the way to the governor, we can ensure these types of laws aren’t being used inappropriately to go after folks who have legitimate tools of self defense,” reported the Dallas Morning News.
Yep, Rep. Frullo got our knife laws fixed the last two sessions and now Moody got the bill passed that ends the illegality of carrying “brass knuckles, kitty keychains and other self defense items.” That’s good.

On the not-so-good side is that we still do not have the most important legislation of all worked out and passed. We do not yet have meaningful property tax reform done and it is time to ramp-up your phone calls to members’ district and capitol offices telling them to get such passed.
When you call and email, tell them you want the tax increase ratification election trigger moved back to 2.5%, where it started, as opposed to the 3.5% to which it got moved. Tell all of your region’s reps and senators that you want all major taxing entities included and that means school districts, cities, counties, and special purpose districts.
it is time to ramp-up your phone calls to members’ district and capitol offices telling them to get such passed.
Legislators are under tremendous pressure to not pass tax reform in a pro-taxpayer form and now is the time you need to be pressing harder than ever as there are very few days left. It’s easy to find their numbers, just visit: capitol.texas.gov.
