A reason many Democrats & Leftist passionately hate pro-life legislation

Pratt on Texas - copyright Pratt on Texas all rights reservedIn the last few weeks the Texas political press has devoted a significant amount of space to how what seemed a bipartisan legislative session is falling apart because those horrible Republicans who think babies are entitled to their lives insist on threatening all the comity with pro-life bills.

In National Review’s The Week was this fine bit:

In Mississippi, Republican governor Phil Bryant has signed a so-called “heartbeat bill,” which prohibits abortion after a fetal heartbeat can be detected, usually about six weeks into pregnancy. The Georgia legislature, too, has passed a heartbeat bill, and Governor Brian Kemp is expected to approve it. Several states have attempted to pass similar bills in recent years, but the legislation has never survived legal challenge; Iowa’s heartbeat bill is currently held up in court. The great merit of these bills is that they remind observers on both sides of the debate that every abortion, even one early in pregnancy, ends a human life.

A recent headline in the Austin American-Statesman read: “Divided House backs ‘born-alive’ abortion bill.” The story reports that most Democrats declined to even cast a vote on the bill “that one described as a harmful charade.”

Obviously the “charade” is Democrats calling it harmful to save the life of a baby, fully born, that just survived its attempted violent murder in an abortion procedure.

The reason these bills so bother the Left is how such expose their claimed compassion for the powerless to be an utter charade as there is no one as powerless as a human baby.
