The San Antonio Express-News reports: “[San Antonio police] officers responded to the shooting at about 12:30 a.m. in the 12400 block of Walthampton Street, where they found a man unconscious in the home’s entryway.
Paramedics took him to University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
According to a preliminary police report of the incident, a woman living at the home had called her friend to protect her from the deceased, as “she had been having trouble with him.”

The friend came to the home and was later assaulted by the alleged attacker, the report says. During the assault, he shot the man twice. He then called authorities and reported the shooting, police said.
