Items that make the show stack or upon which I wish to comment or simply news of Texas I think it important to know:
- $9B more for schools, raises for state workers in two-year Texas budget approved by House panel, more – this is how, once again, both parties “reform,” “fix,” or “simplify” school finance: Hand ISD’s a bunch of new money in a flush budget year. It never fixes anything and only buys a small amount of temporary peace.
- Temporary Property Tax Relief – Why would the Senate propose a tax relief plan that proponents previously admitted would not provide permanent savings to homeowners?
- With major policy differences emerging, state leaders continue to project unity
- Want lower property taxes? Here’s how your bill could change under Texas lawmakers’ proposals – “The tax bill for an average Dallas County homeowner jumped 55 percent from 2013 to 2018…” 5 years!!!

- Texas counties removed 14 voters from the rolls in citizenship review – 14 voters! And note that LOCAL counties removed the 14 because they did not respond to letters about their citizenship. The Secretary of State’s office removed no one as I have explained.
