Either O’Rourke is anti-Israel or he is ignorant of how we protect ourselves.
Back in October of 2014, American Jewish focused forward.com ran a story by Nathan Guttman headlined: “How the Israel Lobby set Beto O’Rourke Right.”
Guttman writes about “the angry reaction he got when he cast one of only eight votes in Congress against special funding for Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defense system during the recent Gaza war.”
Following that, in 2014, O’Rourke received the typical pressure from pro-Israel groups but maintained his hostile stance toward Israel. In March of 2015, “O’Rourke was among 58 representatives and senators who boycotted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s address to Congress,” reminded the Houston Chronicle recently.
Rep. Robert Francis O’Rourke
Hearst papers across Texas ran a story by Jeremy Wallace of the Houston Chronicle headlined “Ted Cruz slams Beto O’Rourke over Israel vote” which interestingly enough contains Beto Pancho’s own John Kerry-moment with another flip added to the flip-flop.
“O’Rourke, first elected to Congress in 2012 to represent El Paso, says he has no regrets about voting against the bill Cruz is referencing. He said he supported the Iron Dome funding before and after that vote,” the story says, giving Beto Pancho his own for it, before he was against it, then was for it again moment.
Either O’Rourke is one of many anti-Israel, and therefore pro Arab-street, Leftists or he is too ignorant to understand that building, testing, and improving Iron Dome is us simultaneously protecting ourselves.
No matter what you think of Israel, it is in proxy theaters of conflict that we design, test, and improve our defensive weapon systems and at present none are so important as anti-missile defense.
