The Houston Chronicle reports: The shooting happened around 1 a.m. at a home near Park Valley and Park Brush, in the Katy area.
A 19-year-old man was breaking into a car in the home’s garage, when the homeowner heard him and grabbed a gun, spokesman Jeff McShan said. The intruder allegedly lunged at the homeowner, and the homeowner shot him in the head.
The intruder ran and tried to hide behind an air conditioning unit by another home in the neighborhood. A K-9 unit found him, and he was flown to Memorial Hermann in serious condition, McShan said.
The homeowner and his wife, who was also home at the time, were not hurt.
