Abilene-area news for 6/25/2018

Robert,
You always have an opinion about Abilene City Politics, and how we do things here. But in my 5-years on the Council, I don’t think I’ve ever seen you step foot inside Abilene City Hall. Have you’ve ever had a conversation with our city manager, or any of our department leaders?
Next month, we will have our budget workshops. I would like to personally invite you to attend some, if not all, of those, so you can get a better idea of exactly what we do, and how we do it.
Thanks,
Kyle McAlister
Place 5
So unless someone goes to City Hall he cannot have an opinion informed of governing philosophy? Odd idea. I guess none of us should vote since we don’t visit Congress.
Obviously people have the right to an opinion.
But you are more than “someone.” You are a journalist, of sorts, with “The News and Commentary of Texas,” right? I don’t think it’s odd at all to expect someone who claims to be a journalist/commentator/reporter to actually step out and interview the people he is reporting/commenting on.
You say, “city staff is only thankful Kreitler is gone. They want go-along-and-get-along only on the council.” Who on the City Staff have you visited with, in person, that feels this way? A reporter/commentator will always have reliable sources he can fall back on; or it’s just more “fake news.”
And, I’m not asking you to come all the way to DC. Just 2 1/2 hours to Abilene on July 24, 25 and/or 26 to sit in on the budget process.
Hope to see you there.
Kyle
