- LP&L board OK’s $35M Lubbock advanced electric meters project – It is a misallocation of resources and all customers are forced to pay for this. There are no health issues with “smart” meters but also the claimed cost savings rarely come about as these meters end up requiring much more attention by utility repair departments. What they save on one hand gets eaten up by the other. LP&L needs to be concentrating our resources on its base infrastructure which has long been considered substandard. more
