- County officials comment on city bond outcome – much of this is offensive to taxpayers and contradictory. It also, quote after quote, proves that much of this is about the envy, the keeping-up-with-the-Joneses I mentioned here. Few, if any, lay out respectable data or argument on how a new city hall, or super-high school, would measurably improve the delivery of government services or education. No, the argument is we need new things because other people have built new things. It is shallow at best, sinfully envious at worst.
