A wonderful Pratt on Texas listener on News/Talk 1290 in Wichita Falls, Monique Worthy, put me onto an interesting Facebook discussion among many of the politically involved across the Panhandle and northern Texas about the collusion between local media and liberal GOP incumbents in the recent primary to attempt to demonize conservative group Empower Texans, of which I am a member, as if the group was a spawn of George Soros as opposed to conservative West Texans.
“The truth is no one pays attention to what their candidate stands for before or after the election,” Janet Hoffman Yeaney wrote. “Oil is what made Texas. The fact that politicians are demonizing oil and oil men and money just displays that these people are Socialists that hate Empower Texans. Come on…when did hard work, perseverance and making money become “evil” in Texas?!,” she asked.
Laura Loughmiller wrote: “I also live in the Panhandle and I was shocked to hear and read all the hate about Empower Texans during this election cycle. Like, since when do we hate rich oilmen??”
“I’ve yet to figure out why money from those dastardly oilmen is evil but it’s not from the likes of Soros or other billionaires fighting for socialism…,” wrote Linda Smith.
These folk get it.
Liberal Republicans, those from the most left side of the GOP caucus in Austin, are just like those in D.C. in that they oppose, and yes often hate, conservative Republicans far more than they dislike anything about Democrats and the revolutionary Left.
The coordinated attack on Empower Texans, Texas Right to Life, and other effective Texas advocates for conservatism from Seliger, Price, King, and so many other moderate-to-liberal Republicans demonstrates the perceived effectiveness of fighting the Austin Swamp and Capitol establishment these groups are having.
When we elect as Republicans the likes of Kel Seliger, Ken King, Four Price, Drew Darby, and so many others, it should be expected that we will be treated to the invective used by the Left in its political expression in our own GOP campaigns.
The fact that King, Price and Seliger, as well as their local media allies, were willing to use far-Left arguments and demagoguery to demonize their primary opponents demonstrates the position of those incumbents on the Left-Right political scale even more than their lousy voting records.
With liberal Republicans, don’t be surprised when they use the demagoguery of the Left
