I’ve had quite a few emails asking me about the list of propositions which appear on all Texas Republican Primary ballots.
First, know that these propositions exist to demonstrate a sense of Republicans in Texas. Often left-wing media and liberal Republicans will claim such things as the Privacy Act are fringe issues and that conservative lawmakers are held hostage to small interest groups in the party.
There are eleven ballot propositions being put to all Texas Republicans and cover issues from toll roads and the Privacy Act to E-Verify for employment and property tax reform.
I would have no problem voting FOR any of the eleven though I have a disagreement over the toll road issue with important nuances.
What matters is that you, members of the Texas Republican Party, speak to these issues so that leadership can point to your vote when expressing our desires to those in elected office. All too often members of the Legislature, especially the moderate and liberal Republicans, pretend that mainstream GOP positions are only the positions of some small activist minority of the Party.
These people lie when they do so when speaking to issues that have appeared on the Primary ballot because in those cases ALL Republicans in Texas voted on each issue. You register as a Republican by voting in the Party’s primary so that makes primary voters the full universe of Texas Republicans.
