Lubbock & Wichita County ballot recommendations from Pratt on Texas

Pratt on Texas - copyright Pratt on Texas all rights reservedWith early voting in the Republican Party’s primary election beginning Tuesday, 20 February, here are some of my recommendations and endorsement for local races on some ballots:

In Wichita County I recommend re-electing District Attorney Maureen Shelton, her challenger hasn’t made a compelling case for a change. Also in Wichita County, I recommend Jeff McKnight for Judge of the 30th Judicial District.

In Lubbock County there are many important races upon which I could opine at length. I’ll keep this commentary simple.

Boren… will be a much needed asset for Governor Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Patrick in getting key tax reform passed over the opposition of most other local government officials.

In the race for Lubbock County Judge I fully endorse Gary Boren who has one of the top records in all of Texas for fighting for taxpayer interests at the local government level. Boren was a statewide leader on property tax and appraisal reform under Governor Rick Perry and as Judge of Lubbock County will be a much needed asset for Governor Abbott and Lieutenant Governor Patrick in getting key tax reform passed over the opposition of most other local government officials.

For Lubbock County Commissioner I fully endorse both challengers over the tax-raising, pay-raising (repeatedly on both counts) incumbents. In Precinct 2, I endorse Jason Corley and in Precinct 4, I endorse Chad Seay. Electing both will tip Lubbock County toward being taxpayer friendly.

I’ll have comment on the Lubbock County Court at Law and Justice of the Peace races tomorrow.
