Did police arrest the right person?
KFYO.com reports: A Lubbock, Texas woman was arrested after she held a man hostage with a .22 rifle for showing a topless photo of a woman to her grandchild.
The Lubbock Police Department arrested 63-year-old Elvira Mendez Thomas Saturday night (June 18) for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
According to Everything Lubbock, the police report said Mrs. Thomas’ victim claimed she held him at gunpoint after he had showed her grandchild a photo of a topless woman.
During the incident, Mrs. Thomas had fired the gun four times inside her home. When the man secured his own handgun and the rifle’s magazine, Mrs. Thomas threatened to contact police and inform them that he had shown a nude photo to her grandchild.
According to the police report, the man handed over both his handgun and the rifle’s magazine at that point in an attempt to prevent Mrs. Thomas from contacting the police.
A case involving the showing of the topless photo to the grandchild has been opened by Lubbock police. The suspect in that case has yet to be charged.
