Three people were arrested early Sunday, October 4, after attempting to burglarize a vehicle in South Lubbock.
The incident occurred just after midnight on the 6900 block of Peoria Avenue. The near-heist was thwarted by the owner of the vehicle.
After he noticed the three men attempting to break into his car from inside his home, he fetched a gun from the closet and told his two daughters to turn out the lights and go in the other room while he handled the situation.
The man opened the door, yelled freeze and fired a warning shot in the air. The suspects scattered, and are believed to have been discovered by police within 20 minutes after the attempted robbery.
The homeowner, whose name has not been released, told police nothing had been stolen from the vehicle.
The identities of the suspects and more information on their impending charges are still being withheld at this time.
