Witnesses told Orange County detectives a man left a New Year’s Even party on foot without anyone’s knowledge. The man, William Bloomer of Vidor, ended up about seven blocks away on Sawmill Road and broke into another man’s home. The homeowner told detectives he did not know the man. The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call at 3:06 a.m. in reference to a possible intruder in the home. When the homeowner located Bloomer, he shot and killed him with a handgun.
