I’d love to stop with election excuse stories but Texas Democrats just keep talking and it’s too good to pass up. The latest could be interpreted as an admission that Texas Democrats have been depending upon the vote of those not legal to vote to win.
According to the Texas Tribune story, “The overall number of votes cast in this year’s election was less than in 2010 — by about 271,000. Although that appears to be part of a national trend, Texas Democrats blamed the state’s voter ID law, which they say discourages people from showing up.”
The chairman of the Texas Democratic Party, Gilberto Hinojosa, “suggested the voter ID law might be to blame for the decline…” in the number of voters according to the Tribune. (This is the guy who has the odd and bigoted fantasy that people are naturally Democrats because of their ethnic background.)
So voter turnout mirrors a national trend and yet Texas Democrats blame having fewer voters on a situation fairly unique to Texas?
…Democrats believe their own voting base members to be so timid and incompetent they will give up the franchise simply because of being asked to have a proper I.D.
Last week I mentioned how when Dems lose it is always because their message was poorly delivered or “muddled”, never because they have the wrong message – one that simply does not appeal to a majority of voters. Now, Democrats believe their own voting base members to be so timid and incompetent they will give up the franchise simply because of being asked to have a proper I.D.
At what point will Democrat leaders such as Hinojosa admit that their message is wrong for the times and wrong for Texans and begin to right their political ship? It won’t be anytime soon if they really believe that showing I.D. to vote is what is keeping them from winning elections.
I think their losing was a lot to do with the poor choice of candidates and also the fact that people are tired of being lied to. Throw in the fear of the government taking over everything and you lose. Tough luck, good deal!
