Texas Democrats have the wrong message, not a muddled one.

Out roll the excuse stories about why Democrats were so resoundingly defeated at the ballot box. The Texas media will spend much time dumping on their own Wendy Davis because they’re mad she let ’em down. Don’t expect nearly as much criticism of Leticia Van de Putte who lost the Lieutenant Governor race just as badly – and to Dan Patrick whom they collectively loath!

The predictable stories start in the Texas Tribune, no doubt to please the donors –  do you know that the Tribune’s argument is that donors don’t sway coverage but advertisers do! Anyway, the Tribune rolled out a story by Jay Root headlined “Davis Campaign Marked by Failed Tactics, Muddled Messages.”

For those of you making your first election-rodeo, learn this: When Democrats lose it is blamed on the message – but not correctly that they had the wrong message, but that their message was poorly delivered, muddled or not placed in front of the right voters.

Until Democrats stop trying to sell ice cubes to Eskimos, defeat will be the result.

The messages of Wendy Davis, Letecia Van de Putte, and the entire Democrat ticket were clear and simply do not appeal to a majority of Texas voters. Their top of the ticket had plenty of money to well deliver the Party’s message as well a huge amount of free press and editorial board endorsements for most of the top Democrat statewide candidates.

Until Democrats stop trying to sell ice cubes to Eskimos, defeat will be the result. Maybe this is an example of why so many on the Left don’t like or understand business and the free market – they simply can’t understand that all is voluntary and thus one must appeal to what other people want, not tell them what they want and coerce them into buying it.

Texas is generally a mainstream, conservative state. Offering voters East & West Coast liberalism is not a winning formula. Why is that so hard for Democrats to see?
