There are state legislative race which need mention, House Districts 60, 71 and 83 as well as Senate District 31.
In SD31, voters have a chance to remove RINO state senator Kel Seliger and replace him with new blood in Mike Canon, a former Midland mayor. The district is setup purposefully to benefit Seliger, he was the chairman of redistricting in the Senate you’ll remember. Hopefully regionalism won’t carry the day and voters will send the incumbent packing and give Canon a try.
House District 60, to the east of Abilene, has an incumbent as arrogant and anti-conservative as any in Texas in Jim Keffer. It would be grand for Texas if HD60 voters would elect Cullen Crisp and send the RINO home to Eastland.
HD71 has Isaac Castro challenging state Rep. Susan King. King could be more consistently conservative in my book but what bothers me most is that for two election cycles she’s expressed boredom with her committee assignments. If it’s not exciting anymore, why keep running? Castro is a good man and wants to serve. Voters in HD71 have an interesting choice.
In House District 83, a local newspaper said they couldn’t decide despite running a series of puff-stories on the challenger. Only a know-nothing would have trouble in the HD83 race. Rep. Charles Perry has been a stand-out conservative, achieved appointment to Appropriations, and has stood strong against civic cheerleaders trying to raise sales taxes on folk in Lubbock. His opponent is a non-conservative, big government, no-money-is-every-enough school guy endorsed by the same group backing liberal Wendy Davis for governor. I fully endorse Charles Perry in HD83, he deserves enthusiastic support.
Thank you for all the info. With so many candidates it’s hard for the average person to be fully informed about all of them before voting. Thanks for doing the hard work/research on them.
