YCT-UT stunt: Anti-Rule of Law stance shows danger of the Left

Well, it was just too much for the UT-Austin’s chapter of Young Conservatives of Texas, the liberal-media firestorm over their planned Catch on Illegal Immigrant event on campus has been canceled.

The Monday morning press release read: “There will be several people walking around on the UT campus with the label “illegal immigrant” on their clothing. Any UT student who catches one of these “illegal immigrants” and brings them back to our table will receive a $25 gift card.”

Lorenzo Garcia, the campus YCT chairman, said “The purpose of this event is to spark a campus-wide discussion about the issue of illegal immigration, and how it affects our everyday lives.”

It certainly did spark something, it started a very typical of the Left barrage of condemnation stories across the state’s press outlets.

YCT certainly started a discussion but, not one on the merits of the Rule of Law in immigration. Instead the group handed the Left’s propaganda ministries another story allowing them to paint conservatives as mean-spirited bigots. Is that fair? No, but it was predictable.

You see my friends in modern America if you stand for the Rule of Law; the equal protection of law; the enforcement of duly-passed laws-of-the-land, or; about any other bedrock principal which secures our Liberty, you are a mean-spirited, racist, homophobic, woman-hating, imperialist, (add a few more), bigot.

Simply supporting the idea that just and reasonable laws should be enforced consistently and fairly makes you an enemy of the Left. That alone should be enough to demonstrate to you how dangerous Left-wing Democrats are to the future of a Constitutional Republic.

Let me put it this way: How in America did it become “repugnant” as Abbott’s staff called the stunt, to stand for the Rule of Law and highlight government’s willful failure to enforce the law? Why accept the Left’s premise?
