Lubbock police want to scan car-tags of innocent citizens, keep records on their whereabouts for a year.

He said the scanners would aid in identifying stolen vehicles, or vehicles connected to a crime. Lewis said information from the scanners is stored for a year.

[Lubbock] Mayor Glen Robertson said he does not anticipate much discussion about the grant at today’s meeting. “I think it’s a good tool for law enforcement,” he said….
